What is the waiting time for a consultation at a walk-in clinic?

The waiting time for a consultation in a walk-in clinic is 1 to 2 days if you're in a major city. In the regions, it may take several days to obtain a consultation due to the limited number of walk-in clinic spaces. Doctr's care coordination service can book you an appointment at a walk-in clinic.

The time you are given is an estimate, so expect to wait an average of 1 hour in the walk-in clinic waiting room. This may seem a long time at first glance, but it's much shorter than if you had no appointment at all, as waiting times often exceed 5-6 hours.

How to get a walk-in appointment with a doctor?

In Quebec, appointments in walk-in clinics are booked via the Rendez-Vous Santé Québec platform, also known as RVSQ. Some walk-in clinics may still use another another appointment booking system. Making an appointment is often difficult, as demand is high and the number of appointments is limited.

Doctr's care coordination service can also arrange an appointment for you at a walk-in clinic. In the rest of Canada, each walk-in clinic has its own appointment system, and it's up to the patient to figure it out.

How to book an appointment in a walk-in clinic?

In Quebec, you can use the government system called Rendez-Vous Santé Québec (RVSQ) to reserve a space in a walk-in clinic. Some walk-in clinics near you may use a system other than the government system. Doctr's care coordination service can take care of making an appointment for you, saving you time and guaranteeing you a quick consultation with a doctor.

In the rest of Canada, each walk-in clinic uses its own system, and it's up to the patient to find it. Doctr's care coordination service can also arrange an appointment for you at a walk-in clinic.

I don't have a family doctor. Is it possible to have a medical appointment?

Absolutely! Your best option is to see a doctor at a walk-in clinic. Doctr's care coordination service can also arrange an appointment for you at a walk-in clinic. It's also a good idea to register with the Quebec Family Doctor Finder to be assigned a family doctor and avoid always going to a walk-in clinic.

What is the cost of a consultation in a walk-in clinic?

If you have a RAMQ card, consultation at a walk-in clinic is free. If you are  not eligible for RAMQ, the price varies from $200 to $400, depending on the walk-in clinic.

How to see a doctor without a RAMQ card?

If your RAMQ card is lost or expired, you can obtain proof of eligibility from RAMQ by calling 1 800 561-9749 so you can see a doctor at a walk-in clinic.

Non-RAMQ and non-eligible residents will have to pay a fee for consultation in a walk-in clinic or emergency room. The Doctr Expat service lets you book an appointment with a walk-in clinic in Montreal quickly, or anywhere in Canada.

Are consultations in walk-in clinics reimbursed by private health insurance companies?

If you have a valid RAMQ card, consultations at a walk-in clinics are free. If you are not eligible for RAMQ, the price varies depending on the walk-in clinic. If you have travel insurance or insurance for foreign residents in Canada, you may be eligible for reimbursement of your walk-in clinic consultation.

What is the Care Coordinator service?

We understand that making a medical appointment in the public health system can generate anxiety and frustration. Your care coordinator will find the right clinic, call at the right time and confirm the appointment for you.

As part of its service offering to the person who purchases Doctr’s services (hereinafter “Customer”), Doctr acts solely as an agent for the Customer in connection with the medical appointment mandate granted by the Customer in purchasing Doctr’s services.

For all services rendered by Doctr involving the use by the Customer of its Quebec Health Insurance Plan Card (hereinafter the “RAMQ Card”), Doctr acts independently and is not affiliated with any appointment scheduling system, clinic or other establishment offering medical services.

Doctr is not given priority for scheduling appointments before, during or after the execution of its mandate for the Customer when such services involve the use by the Customer of its RAMQ Card.

How do I sign up for Doctr?

Signing up for Doctr is easy! Visit our website or download the Doctr app, create an account, and start using our healthcare coordination services right away.

How many medical appointments can I request?

You can request as many medical appointments as you need, as long as you attend to your consultations. For the family plan, you can request appointments for yourself and up to four other loved ones.

What happens after I open a request?

You Care Coordinator will start working on your request soon. You will receive a communication when your care coordinator has started, and you will receive frequent updates on progress. If you have questions, you can always chat with the team via the chat in the Doctr mobile app.

What is the expected date of my appointment?

For walk-ins, you can expect the appointment tomorrow or the next day. For other types of appointments, it depends on the availabilities in your region, and you will get more information once the care coordinator team has started working on your request.

How can I see the progress of my request?

You can see the progress of your request in the request details in the homepage of your Doctr app or in your request history.

How do you select a clinic?

We use your location, the distance you can travel, your availabilities and the thousands of reviews left by other users in our clinic directory to pick the best clinic possible.

What if I do not like the clinic you selected?

If you have chosen the single or family plan, you are still in charge. Inform your care coordinator in the chat if you don't like the selected clinic and we'll find you another one. If you have selected the walk-in plan (one appointment only), you cannot request another appointment.

It is important to contact your care coordinator at least 24 hours in advance to cancel an appointment. You also have the option of cancelling the appointment yourself by contacting the clinic directly.

What if I cannot go to my appointment?

It happens! We will book another appointment for you if you have the single or family plan. Let your care coordinator know as soon as possible as not showing up to your appointment negatively impacts the reputation of the Care Coordinator service.

For the Walk-in plan, you will not be reimbursed if you do not go to your appointment and you will need to open a new request.

Details of the service offered

Within the framework of its offer of services to the person who obtains the services of Doctr (hereinafter “Customer”), the latter acts only as an agent for the Customer within the framework of the mandate of medical appointments that the latter granted to him by obtaining the services of Doctr.

For all services rendered by Doctr involving the use by the Customer of his Quebec Health Insurance Plan card (hereinafter the “RAMQ Card”), Doctr acts independently and is not affiliated with any appointment scheduling system, clinic or other establishment offering medical services.

Doctr is not given priority for scheduling appointments before, during or after the execution of its mandate for the Customer when such services involve the use by the Customer of its RAMQ Card.

Protection of personal information

We, Doctr, are seriously concerned about the confidentiality of your personal information and are committed to respecting the confidentiality of the information we collect. In order to comply with the various legal provisions concerning the Quebec health insurance plan (Health Insurance Act, RLRQ c A-29) and concerning the protection of personal information in the private sector (Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, RLRQ, c P-39.1), Doctr has put in place various mechanisms allowing it to provide its services and to comply with the existing legal provisions.

Please note that the only information collected, in a transparent manner with the consent of the users, is the information listed in our Privacy Policy, to which you consent by using the website ” Doctr.ca ” (hereinafter the ” User “). Please note that the User’s personal information will not be retained beyond the purposes for which it was collected and Doctr has established a mechanism for the destruction of such information once the expiry date has been reached, thereby complying with applicable laws.

Special case of health insurance card information

Please note that we will not require you to produce your RAMQ Card with all its information by photo and we will never require you to physically entrust us with your RAMQ Card. For the sole purpose of the services provided by Doctr “Doctr Care Coordinator Services” (described in the Terms and Conditions and the General Conditions of Sale) for which the information contained on a RAMQ Card is necessary, and not merely useful, we collect only the necessary information contained on the RAMQ Card.

The information requested may include the registered health insurance number, expiration date, date of birth and full name of the person purchasing the specific service (hereinafter the “Purchaser”). The collection of the above information is necessary since this information is required by the clinics for appointment scheduling, therefore necessary for Doctr to perform the service “ Doctr Care Coordinator Services” that Buyer has procured and which is a resource provision service.

The deletion of certain data such as health insurance number, reason for medical consultation and any photos that may have been provided are deleted by Doctr seven (7) days after Doctr has made an appointment for Buyer, as this information is no longer necessary for Doctr’s performance of the services.
