Dr Ma, was fabulous, I’m super happy and referred my father in law to him. Thank you

Nov 19th 2018

Dr. Andrew Ma is incompetent and unprofessional on so many levels. My family doctor referred me to him for a biopsy. Dr. Ma performed a biopsy the first time I visited him on September 20, 2018, 9:40am appointment, at the Credit Valley Hospital Mississauga. He gave me several shots of what he called freezing injection; however, the subsequent biopsy was still very painful and he told me it was normal, which is not necessarily true. From my later experience of biopsy performed by another doctor, I realized biopsy isn’t necessarily painful if the freezing shot is conducted properly. To find out the results, Dr. Ma asked me to make an appointment with his office on 1140 Burnhamthorpe. I made the appt. and I showed up for the appointment on Oct 22, 2018, 8:30am. I waited for an hour before he was able to see me. Then Dr. Ma nonchalantly told me there was no biopsy results because the sample taken by him was insufficient and that happens sometimes. Dr. Ma referred me to another doctor for another round of biopsy. I did another biopsy on Oct 29, 2018 at 100 Queensway, on 9am appt. The day after the biopsy, I called Dr. Ma’s office on 1140 Burnhamthorpe to make an appt with Dr. Ma to discuss the biopsy results. I communicated to the receptionist that the person who performed the biopsy at 100 Queensway told me the result will out 7-10 business days, and that I wanted to make an appointment after 10 business days from the biopsy. The office staff who took the called asked me to come in within 5 business days. I again earnestly communicated to the office staff member that Doctor who performed the biopsy told me that results will be out in 7-10 days. She assured me that the result will be at Dr. Ma’s office in 5 days and booked me for an appt. on Nov 6, 2018. I showed up for the 9:30am appt. on Nov 6, 2018 and waited for half an hour. One day before I went to this appointment, I called the front desk to make sure Dr. Ma has the biopsy result, as I was concerned from the previous conversation. The front desk receptionist answering the phone said she could check with Dr. Ma and get back to me on same day. However, she never called back. So next morning, I went to my appt with worry on my mind that my results are not available and I may be wasting my time . As soon as I arrived, I let the front desk staff know that I called yesterday to check and no one got back to me. The front desk staff stepped back from her desk to checked with Dr. Ma and she told me Dr. Ma confirmed that he has received the biopsy result and I should not be concerned. So I waited for half an hour after the scheduled time to see him. Surprisingly, when I saw him, the first thing that came out of his mouth was “which hospital did you do the biopsy?” Then he proceeded to tell me the result hasn’t arrived. Seeing that we, as my husband went with me to the appt., are upset, as we both wasted our whole morning, Dr.Ma placated us by assuring us that he will call us as soon the results comes out, so that we don't have to make another trip to the office. Dr. Ma said he will call me even if he is on a vacation. I reminded Dr. Ma we will be traveling to China on Nov 21, and he assured us that he will call me with the results. Last week I called Dr. Ma’s office and inquired. I was told he was not in the office last week. Today is Nov 19, exactly 21 days after my biopsy on Oct 29. I still have not heard from Dr. Ma or his staff regarding my biopsy results. I am worried and concerned as our family is scheduled to go on a overseas trip, and I won’t be back for over a month. So what do I do? Do I have something serious? Do I need to cancel my trip? Do I need to stay for treatment in case it is cancer and early treatment is needed? I see that Dr. Ma is inexperienced doctor according to https://www.cpso.on.ca/DoctorDetails/Ma-Andrew-Ka-Ming/0289022-101147 However, aren’t all practicing doctors, including the new physicians, held to some minimal standard of care and responsibility. I am still waiting to hear from Dr. Ma.
